Akira Takarada is no doubt one of the most familiar faces in the Godzilla film franchise starting with the very first film. He appeared as Hideto Ogata in Godzilla (1954). Since then he’s appeared as Ichiro Sakai in Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964), Astronaut K. Fuji in Invasion of Astro-Monster (Monster Zero) (1965), Yoshimura in Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster (1966), Lt. Commander Jiro Nomura in King Kong Escapes (1967), Doctor Ken Tashiro in Latitude Zero (1969), Environmental Planning Board Chief Jyoji Minamino in Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992), UN Secretary General Naotarô Daigo in Godzilla: Final Wars (2004). Mr. Takarada also played a Japanese Immigration Agent in Legendary’s Godzilla (2014) but his scene never made it into the final film.

This signed black and white photo features a shot of Mr. Takarada as Hideto Ogata embracing Emiko from the original Gojira / Godzilla (1954).

Mr. Takarada signed his name in Japanese in Black Ink and then signed it in English below that in Metallic Silver Ink.
