Akira Takarada is no doubt one of the most familiar faces in the Godzilla film franchise starting with the very first film. He appeared as Hideto Ogata in Godzilla (1954). Since then he’s appeared as Ichiro Sakai in Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964), Astronaut K. Fuji in Invasion of Astro-Monster (Monster Zero) (1965), Yoshimura in Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster (1966), Lt. Commander Jiro Nomura in King Kong Escapes (1967), Doctor Ken Tashiro in Latitude Zero (1969), Environmental Planning Board Chief Jyoji Minamino in Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992), UN Secretary General Naotarô Daigo in Godzilla: Final Wars (2004). Mr. Takarada also played a Japanese Immigration Agent in Legendary’s Godzilla (2014) but his scene never made it into the final film.

This shikishi board (a common way to get autographs in Japan), is a maze of elements drawn by Mr. Takarada himself. The center piece is a calligraphic representation of "ゴジラ" or "Gojira", the original Japanese name for Godzilla. It is embellished hand drawn dorsal spines and spouting atomic breath done in red ink as a fantastic accent color.

Mr. Takarada wrote "Godzilla" in English across the top, Signed his name in Japanese along the left side, and then signed it again, in English, below that.

His personal hanko stamp appears below that. Finally, he has dated it "Nov. 2018 at Boston" in the lower right.

This is truly rare opportunity and a unique piece and will look fantastic on your wall. We had only 8 of these made!

Several photos of the work being created appear above.
